Job Hopping is a No No
Truck drivers are some of the most sought after professionals in America right now.
Industry experts predict the driver shortage to reach 200,000 by the year 2012. But truck drivers need to heed this one simple warning: Don’t Job Hop. You will cause yourself harm in the near future. Companies perceive job hopping as unreliable and a sign of not being committed.
Companies can pick and choose their truck drivers and job hoppers get passed over more often than any other applicant.
It costs a company an enormous amount of money to hire a new driver and if a job hopper jumps within 3 months, then the company takes a loss. It’s better for the company not to have hired and left the truck empty.
The grass is not always greener on the other side. Every time a truck driver changes jobs, it costs the driver money. Loss of wages while swapping, stress of learning the company rules, orientation down time, waiting for the truck and load to be ready etc.
Truckers America truck driving recruitment agency, suggests it’s better to have a meeting with the driver manager rather than packing the bag and quitting. Ask for an explanation. Consider your alternatives, but also have realistic expectations. Not everything will go your way so expect some give and take.
.02 cents per mile over 2000 miles is $40 bucks. That .02 cents is just not worth losing several thousand dollars in lost wages over 6-8 weeks while moving to another employer.
Right now Truckers America has over 500 jobs available nationwide. So much unemployment – yet truck driver jobs are ready to be filled.
Truckers America is dedicated to putting “America back to work – One driver at a time”®. Students who just graduated are needed – as are drivers who have experience.
Being employed is something many Americans are craving. Having an employer, a weekly wage and a job to go to is what will bring America’s economy back to life and the transportation industry is ready to be filled.
The driving jobs are out there. Good companies are hiring. Contact www.truckersamerica.com to discuss your career options and let us work with you to get you back behind the wheel.
