Arizona has about 194,000people searching for employment. But there's work available in the long-haul trucking industry for those who can cut it, even if they've never driven a truck and don't know how to use a stick shift. The Phoenix area has four major trucking companies — Knight Transportation Inc., Swift Transportation Co., C.R. England Trucking and Gordon Trucking Inc.— that each are seeking about 200 drivers, according to a recent analysis by Wanted Analytics, a human-resources data company.

The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) co-sponsors the week-long safety initiative to help minimize the number of crashes, deaths and injuries caused by crashes involving large trucks, buses and cars.
