Trucker Healthy Tips

It can be hard for the truck driver to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Long hours driving the truck. Fast Food. Boredom. Hard to find the time for exercise. By looking after yourself and eating healthy choices, you will enjoy a more energetic life.

Many trucking companies are not able to hire drivers that have a high BMI (Body Mass Index) or who have sleep apnoea (usually associated with being overweight), this means drivers need to keep themselves healthy to stay in the occupation. 

Here are some tips that may help......

 

  • healthy foodStock up your food for the truck with healthy foods and water.
  • When you’re in the truck, and want to eat, if you only have healthy choices, you will eat the healthy choices. Healthy food choices will keep your body energised.
  • Buy enough fruit for 2 days or 3 days like bananas, strawberries, apples, and other fruit if you have room in your fridge.
  • Most truckers can get to Wal-Mart even towing the trailer. Wal-Mart has cheap and healthy food options.

 

Buffet

  • fruit shoppingIf you have the buffet for dinner – a nice even sized plate of ¼ meat, ¼ pasta and half vegetable.
  • Only have 1 plate of dinner from the buffet – don’t go back for more.
  • Have a glass of water with your meal.
  • Usually 10 minutes have passed and your stomach realises it has had a lovely healthy dinner and no more is required.

Just because you’re a trucker, does not mean you want to die at a young age! By looking after yourself and feeding your body healthy choices, you will enjoy a longer life.  

Many of us live till we are 80+. Obese people tend to die at a much younger age but were too large to enjoy life!
